7 Characteristics of The Scientific Methods

Copper and Emory (1995) state the 7 characteristics of the scientific methods below :

1.  The purpose of the research should be clearly defined and sharply delineated in term as unambiguous as possible.

2.  The research procedures used should be described in sufficient detail to permit another researcher to repeat the research.

3.  The procedural design of the research should be carefully planned to yield results that are as objective as possible.

4.  The researcher should report, with complete frankness, flaws in procedural design and estimate their effect upon the findings.

5.  Analysis of the data should be sufficiently adequate to reveal its significance, and the methods of analysis used should be appropriate.

6.  Conclusions should be confined to those justified by the data of the research and limited to those for which data provide an adequate basis.

7.  Greater confidence in the research is warranted if the researcher is experienced, has a good reputation in research, and is a person of integrity.

Analisis Data Sederhana 2 SPSS

Pada bagian ini akan dibahas dua contoh inferensia statistik yaitu analisis korelasi linier sederhana dan analisis regresi linier sederhana.

Untuk mempermudah penjelasan, kita gunakan data di bawah ini :

1.  Korelasi Linier Sederhana

Pada data editor masukan peubah pendptn dan penglrn, kemudian input semua datanya.  Berikutnya pilih Analyze – Correlate – Bivariate.  Pada layar akan muncul :

Klik pendptn kemudian tekan shift tahan dan klik penglrn.  Klik tanda segitiga untuk memindahkan peubah tadi ke kotak Variables.  Di tengah terdapat tulisan Correlation Coefficients, pilihlan Pearson untuk korelasi produk momen pearson, atau Kendall’s tau-b untuk korelasi Tau Kendall, atau Spearman untuk korelasi peringkat spearman.  Kemudian di bagian bawah terdapat Tulisan Test of Significance, pilihlah Two-tailed untuk pengujian dua arah, atau pilih One-tailed untuk pengujian satu arah (dibahas di pengujian hipotesis).
