5 Reason Why People Avoiding Statistics
I always wondering why it’s so hard to teach college student about statistics matter. So I did a little research. I made a questionnaire and asked several student whether he like or dislike statistics subject. The result’s amazed me, almost all the student love statistics (90%). I don’t buy it, I’ll try to figure it out, maybe there’s a mistake; I picked the wrong student to answer such question, or I must have asked them the wrong question. So, I changed the question, instead of asking them whether he likes or hate statistics, I asked the students why they hate statistics subject. I asked them to write 5 reason why they hate statistics. Here are the result (sort by the most frequent answer) :
1. Never met the teacher that teach math/statistics well.
2. Math/statistics teacher usually arrogant, boring, and senseless.
3. Too complicated, and difficult to learn.
4. Useless, not applicable to the real life.
5. Too much formula
Well, that they are. How about you ?

Hehehe I agree with most of the answers above. When I was in college, I hate statistics because the reason no 1, 2, 3., and the teacher didn’t tell us about the application in real life.

it’s easy to understand the application of statistics. it’s not too difficult

i agree that this is quite complicated, but i see statistic almost copes life and it’s necessarily needed. there’re many symbols used and somehow those symbols are dazzling @.@ as this is complicated while it’s also needed, i suggest the teacher to point out the reason of each formula , i mean what’s behind them with also its specific application such cases or somewhat same

I just need statistics to do my research ha ha.. It’s not that hard, and there are just so many softwares we can use to help us to do it. But to be honest, statistics is not my thing.

i agree with the reason number 3 and 5. sometimes derivated of formula statistic is so difficult. you know, when my lecture teach me in class i’m so tired to hearing his explanation. its so curiosly.
